Whatever the case is, you can always find something going on in Missoula from live music at a multitude of venues ranging from the historic Wilma Theatre to any one of the local bars or pubs, to farmers markets, festivals for just about every occasion and historic re-creations.

Festivals

  • First Night Missoula

    December

    Montana's largest New Year's Eve celebration of the arts. Options include theater, dance, poetry jams, games, ice sculptures and sculpting, storytelling and music, music, music.

  • International Wildlife Festival

    May

    A unique event for Missoula, and Montana in general. Bringing in screenings for an entire week of wildlife documentaries, footage and videos in the historic Wilma Theatre in downtown Missoula. Also happening: the WildWalk Parade, WildFest in Caras Park, wildlife art, children's displays downtown and panel discussions on current issues in the wildlife filmmaking industry.

  • Out to Lunch

    June - August

    A free concert series in Caras Park. Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 11am until 2pm, step out in to the sunshine and enjoy live music, local food and beverages and the chance to mingle with friends and strangers alike.

  • Downtown ToNight

    June - August

    Similar to Out to Lunch, Downtown ToNight is every Thursday evening from 5 until 8:30pm at Caras Park. Grab the family –don't forget the dog!- and head on down for great food, the Bud Light Beverage Gardens, live music and plenty of Missoula flavor! Don't forget to venture over to the river to watch the kayakers play on Brennan's Wave.

  • Germanfest

    September

    A celebration of all that is German, in honor of Missoula's sister city, Neckargemünd. Missoula's own Bayern Brewery provides the drinks. Bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad will be available at every turn, and your ears will be filled with traditional German music as you browse through the booths.

  • Farmer's Market

    A friendly space for Montana farmers, gardeners and artists to offer the Missoula community locally grown and fresh-picked produce and wares. Also available to satisfy the early morning hunger is a large selection of booths with local food vendors.

  • Garden City Brewfest

    May

    A favorite annual event here in Missoula that features more than 50 beers on tap, wine bar, food and live music. Please bring your ID, and arrive early for the best selection.

  • Maverick Brewfest

    September

    A beerfest dedicated to raising money for kid's sports leagues in the Missoula valley. The second beerfest of the year helps to bridge the gap until spring, when the Garden City Brewfest takes place. Featuring beer from across Montana and the greater Northwest, you will find over 40 beers on tap in downtown's Caras Park. Admission is $10 which includes a commemorative glass and three beer tickets. Additional tickets are just $1. Please remember your ID.

  • River City Roots Festival

    Last weekend of August

    A celebration of all things Missoula! Named 2009 Montana Tourism Event of the Year, the River City Roots Festival brings more than 10,000 people together on Main Street for a weekend of music, art and family activities. The pavilion at Caras Park is packed full of fun things for the kids while the large stage is set up on Main Street, adjacent to the food and beer vendors on Ryman. Get geared up for the day by racing others from the red XXXX's on north Higgins, through Greenough Park and back to the heart of the festival for some fabulous prizes! All are welcome to participate.
